Today, I start a Did You Know? segment on Thursdays on a variety of topics. So, start the trumpets blaring, and off we go…Did you know…
22% of CTA members work for pay in retirement. The main reason: they enjoy working and want to stay active (26%).
Some 24% of those working for pay said they need the income for living expenses. Remember, the average pension only takes care of about 60% of your income needs in retirement.
33% of those retirees working for pay, work in public school related employment.
About half of all CalSTRS retirees do volunteer work.
Ummmmm, I’m a no on coming back to schools when I retire, but that’s me. I also want to do some volunteer work. I grew up in Napa Valley and worked at a winery as a tour guide during weekends and summers while in college, and I’d like to work at a winery for a couple of days a week.
Saturday, a few of us are helping to serve the homeless at St. Mary's Dining Hall in Stockton. If you're interested in helping, email or text me. It really makes you feel THANKFUL for what you have. Super easy too. Usually, they put me to work cutting vegetables or wrapping utensils. We all need those reminders every now and then.
